Kotuitui Whitinga
Footbridge, Whangarei

Moth Light was engaged by electrical contractor McKay, on behalf of the Whangarei District Council, to develop a robust handrail lighting solution for the Kotuitui Whitinga Footbridge in Whangarei. The project involved replacing a failing 230V system supplied by another party, ensuring compliance with modern standards.

Our Slim Jim 10 profile fitted perfectly into the rebate of the existing stainless-steel handrail. There were a few challenges to overcome particularly in relation to light driver placement and voltage drop, but we successfully engineered a solution to meet code utilising our Spec Series Slim LED strip, delivering 3w per meter, 320 lumens, and 3000k warm white light. The result is an energy-efficient, code-compliant system that aligns with the client’s expectations and enhances the public space.
