Transpower

Moth Light collaborated with architecture firm Jasmax and electrical engineers BlackYARD Engineering to deliver a distinctive lighting solution for Transpower's Wellington headquarters. This commercial fit-out aimed to reflect Transpower's commitment to innovation and sustainability through thoughtful and creative lighting design.

A standout feature of this project was the custom-designed light fixtures that repurposed old glass pylon insulators. These insulators, once integral components of New Zealand's electrical infrastructure, were transformed into bespoke luminaires. This creative reuse not only paid homage to Transpower's history but also aligned with sustainable design practices by giving new life to decommissioned materials.

The lighting design seamlessly integrates with the architectural vision, featuring Offspring Profiles’ Downhill Dan 22 recessed into the suspended feature ceiling and Downhill Dan 10 accentuating its perimeter. These linear LED profiles were selected for their minimalist design and high-quality light output, contributing to the overall ambiance and functionality of the workspace.

The project's exceptional design and execution were acknowledged with several prestigious awards: 2018 NZIA Wellington Architecture Award – Interior, 2018 NZ Commercial Project Awards – Gold Award, 2018 NZ Commercial Project Awards – National Category Winner, and the 2018 Property Council Awards – Supreme Winner.
