MSD
Fit-out

The Ministry of Social Development offices in Wellington, designed by Studio Pacific, draw inspiration from the myth of Tāne separating earth (Papatūānuku) and sky (Ranginui), bringing light into the world.

Moth Light was engaged to illuminate the reception counter—a challenging curved structure requiring a specialised lighting approach. A flexible, neon-style LED strip was seamlessly integrated within the counter, providing a concealed yet effective lighting solution.

For the meeting rooms, our Sweet 16 profile was selected for its powerful yet compact uplight/downlight capabilities. Featuring a single LED strip for downlighting and two for uplighting, it delivers balanced illumination—ideal for boardrooms, reception counters, and kitchen islands.

Studio Pacific’s design was recognised with the 2017 NZIA Wellington Architecture Award for Interior Architecture.
