A centrepiece of Napier’s Art Deco landscape, the Tom Parker Fountain has been lighting up the city since 1936, thanks to a generous £1000 donation from local businessman Tom Parker. Over the years, its lighting system evolved through multiple upgrades, but this latest renovation significantly improves efficiency, control, and performance.
Moth Light replaced the existing 16 high-wattage incandescent lamps with 10 x BEGA 84862 underwater floodlights—49W DALI-controlled RGB+W with a 20° half-beam angle—delivering vibrant, dynamic illumination while greatly reducing energy consumption. The fluorescent side lighting was also upgraded to Flat Freddie 30 with RGB+W LED strip.
Both the fountain’s lighting and waterspout relays are now seamlessly integrated with Casambi Bluetooth mesh control, enabling programmable sequences that replicate the original display patterns while offering the benefits of modern technology, reduced maintenance, and lower running costs.
