Moth Light is proud to have been recognised at the 2025 IES ANZ NZ Chapter Awards, receiving two Awards of Commendation for lighting designs by Dennis Rowe.
The awards acknowledge projects that demonstrate thoughtful, well-executed lighting solutions, celebrating both design quality and technical excellence.
Award of Commendation: Westshore House
The Westshore House project was recognised for its considered residential lighting design, showcasing interior and exterior applications that support the architecture and enhance the lived experience of the space. The project demonstrates how integrated lighting can provide functionality while remaining visually understated.
Moth Light worked closely with the architect and builder to create a lighting solution that complements the architecture while enhancing comfort, flow, and atmosphere. Throughout the home, luminaires are seamlessly integrated into timber ceilings, cabinetry, and walls — delivering light exactly where it’s needed without interrupting the design.
Award of Commendation: Tom Parker Fountain
The Tom Parker Fountain received an Award of Commendation for its sensitive and effective approach to illuminating a public artwork. The lighting highlights the form and movement of the fountain while maintaining balance with the surrounding environment, contributing to the night-time identity of the site without visual clutter.
Moth Light replaced the existing 16 high-wattage incandescent lamps with 10 x BEGA 84862 underwater floodlights—49W DALI-controlled RGB+W with a 20° half-beam angle—delivering vibrant, dynamic illumination while greatly reducing energy consumption. The fluorescent side lighting was also upgraded to Flat Freddie 30 with RGB+W LED strip.
Both the fountain’s lighting and waterspout relays are now seamlessly integrated with Casambi Bluetooth mesh control, enabling programmable sequences that replicate the original display patterns while offering the benefits of modern technology, reduced maintenance, and lower running costs.
Shed 5 – contribution to an award-winning project
Moth Light was also invited to join S&T Lighting on stage for the Shed 5 project, in recognition of our contribution to their award-winning lighting design. Moth Light supplied a range of luminaires from BEGA and Offspring Profiles, showcasing the heritage-listed building, and significantly improving pedestrian safety in the area.
BEGA BOOM Schaffhausen wall luminaires showcase the heritage-listed building, complemented by 24 318 K3 luminaires mounted between the heritage windows to deliver warm, even illumination across the exterior.
BEGA 22 383 surface washers subtly accent architectural surfaces. Offspring Profiles Flat Freddie 14 is recessed under the windowsills, providing concealed low‑level light that supports wayfinding without visual clutter.

Celebrating professional achievement
The evening also marked an individual achievement for Michelle Fischer, Moth Light’s Wellington Sales Consultant, who was awarded Year 2 Class Dux (2024) for the Graduate Certificate in Science & Technology (Lighting) at Massey University. This recognition reflects Michelle’s commitment to professional development and technical excellence within the lighting industry.
