Integrated linear lighting for Tāwharau Pod Canopy on Te Ara Tupua Shared Path, using Angle Andy 16, Flat Freddie 14 and a customised low-power LED strip.
Moth Light supplied the integrated linear lighting for Tāwharau Pod Canopy, a distinctive architectural element on the new Te Ara Tupua Shared Path.
Developed in conjunction with Stephenson & Turner, the solution uses Moth Light’s Angle Andy 16 and Flat Freddie 14 profiles with a customised LED strip designed around the pod’s specific technical requirements.
The canopy presented a particular electrical constraint: only one power-feed location was possible, requiring the LED strip to operate over a feed length exceeding 15 metres. To accommodate this, a low-power 2.4W-per-metre LED strip was developed, providing a solution tailored to the canopy’s configuration, whilst also meeting the light level requirements to the ground below.
The result is a discreetly integrated lighting system that supports the architectural form of the canopy while responding precisely to the project’s technical demands.
