Moth Light is thrilled to announce that we have secured exclusive rights to bring Aubrilam, a French company renowned for its sustainable urban lighting and furniture solutions, to New Zealand. Aubrilam, founded in 1978 and now part of the BEGA Group, has a long-standing history of using wood as a primary material in their designs and a commitment to sustainability and the enhancement of outdoor living spaces.
About Aubrilam: A Commitment to Sustainable Materials
Aubrilam has dedicated over four decades to designing and manufacturing outdoor lighting and urban furniture that enhance public spaces. They have consistently prioritised the use of eco-friendly materials, and their approach to sustainability is exemplified by their innovative use of wood. The company exclusively uses untreated heartwood sourced from sustainably managed forests and the HTE manufacturing process protects the wood from traditional enemies like fungi and woodworm. Their products are both environmentally friendly and durable.
“Since the beginning, we have used wood because it is a sustainable, environmentally friendly, and resistant material.”
One of the standout features of Aubrilam’s offerings is the integration of Accoya wood—a Cradle-to-Cradle Gold Certified material known for its superior durability and sustainability. Combined with 95% recycled aluminium, Aubrilam’s products are engineered to last a minimum of 25 years, making them a smart choice for both the environment and long-term urban planning.
CNC Routed Designs: Bringing Contemporary Design to Life
Moth Light is excited about Aubrilam’s ability to CNC route custom designs into their wooden products. This technology allows for intricate designs to be digitally created and then precision-routed into the wood, offering endless and unique opportunities for customisation.
As a demonstration of what is possible, we’ve collaborated with Dave Hakaraia, a contemporary Māori artist based in Wellington, who has created a bespoke design. While this particular design is not intended as a standard offering, it demonstrates the possibilities available through Aubrilam’s CNC routing process.
Enhancing New Zealand’s Urban Landscape
With Aubrilam’s products now available through Moth Light, New Zealand’s urban and outdoor spaces can benefit from a blend of aesthetic appeal and robust sustainability. Aubrilam’s range, which includes lighting poles, bollards, urban furniture, and outdoor terrace solutions, is designed to harmonise with natural surroundings while enhancing the well-being of users.
Their expertise in creating outdoor solutions for major food chains, urban planning projects, and private real estate developments ensures that Aubrilam’s products are both functional and visually appealing. Notably, Aubrilam was chosen to illuminate the Paris 2024 Olympic Village, further solidifying their reputation for excellence.
A New Standard for Urban Design in New Zealand
The introduction of Aubrilam to the New Zealand market through Moth Light represents a significant step forward in sustainable urban lighting and design. The combination of sustainable materials, innovative design, and the ability to incorporate local artistic elements means that architects, designers, and planners can now access a unique range of products that contribute to both the environment and the cultural landscape.
